The Mereu Aproape Foundation

The Mereu Aproape Foundation’s story reached its tenth year in 2015. Alongside its partners, donors, companies, journalists and public figures, the foundation managed to help 1.000.000 people through programs in the education, health, cultural, humanitarian and advocacy field. More than 10.000 flood victims were offered support and 75 houses were built; 350 children and adults were saved and 225 schools, libraries and medical centers were provided with the necessary equipment. The financial and material support offered by the Mereu Aproape Foundation amounts more than 10 million Euros.

The permanent campaigns in the health and social area continue, and also, the efforts concentrated towards other thousand beneficiaries through extensive national programs.

Vreau sa ajut – the strongest humanitarian project in Romania, has supported in the last 5 years with financial aid children with serious health problems. In 2015, 96 patients were helped.

Schimba o viata – 227 families received financial support in 2015 through Schimba o viata campaign, initiated in 2012 and whose aim is to help Romanian families who are struggling to live in dignity despite the harsh conditions in their lives.

Through “Ajuta un sat. Schimba o tara” campaign organized by the Mereu Aproape Foundation and Vodafone Foundation – 10.360 children in 14 rural areas are now studying in modern conditions ( schools as well as medical centers were constructed, renovated and received equipment and educational materials).

A piano for Lipatti – a new, performant Steinway piano was given to the students from Dinu Lipatti National College, as they were learning on an extremely old instrument. With the support of Intact Media Group, Orange, Vodafone, Telekom and the Association for Community Relations and various Romanian singers the necessary amount of 70.000 euros was raised.

Colectiv – following the tragic event at the Colectiv club in Bucharest, The Mereu Aproape Foundation organized “Romani Impreuna” telethon and more than 1.5 million euros were raised and transfer into a solidarity account to provide financial support for the victims of the tragedy and their families.
